CLASS SCHEDULE
All lessons are scheduled for 4-13 week sessions.
There are also 2 special summer sessions of 5 weeks each. Although we operate on a quarterly basis, new students may enroll at any time.

Music Theory and Ear Training

We will be starting a new theory program in April. These classes will help you learn what makes your favorite music sound so great and will address the essentials of reading and writing music. This includes pitch identification on the staff, key signature, time signature, clef recognition, and counting. The level 2 class will focus on the fundamentals of functional harmony, melody, and students will fine-tune their listening abilities with ear training studies. Every student will quickly improve his or her general musicianship and knowledge of what makes music work. Those who are currently pursuing private lessons will find their personal understanding of music becomes more meaningful to them.
These weekly classes will be given in the new state-of-the-art computer music lab. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses are offered for varying age levels. These classes will meet for between 6 and 13 consecutive weeks. An additional course for students planning to take the Advanced Placement Music Theory Exam will be offered, and will cater to both the material and time frame surrounding the test. Vocal Lessons

Schaumburg Academy of Music offers private vocal lessons for all ages of students.
Our teachers are experienced singers who have performed in numerous venues.
Proper breathing and diction training are emphasized.

Jazz Study Program

This program is all encompassing, providing both private and group classes as well as a class preparing students to join a jazz combo. The classes offered include Jazz Theory I, Jazz Theory II, Improvising, Jazz Composition, Jazz Piano, and Jazz Saxophone.
Two Jazz groups stress playing and putting the theory taught in private lessons into practice.
Students are placed according to their level of experience and ability. Both basic and standard repertoire are addressed as well as students' own compositions.

Violin & Viola Lessons

We offer violin lessons from the beginning level up to the experienced level.
Our instructors have extensive experience performing and teaching.
